She is the leader of the board, and thus responsible for the interaction between board and admin. Disrespecting school employees needs to be addressed and eliminated.Monona Mom of 3noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2143134777410804811.post-36619404272193200282010-05-31T08:16:47.950-05:002010-05-31T08:16:47.950-05:00"f there is no acknowledgement or recognition..."f there is no acknowledgement or recognition that there is a problem and a sincere attempt to change things, you will have one heck of a difficult time finding a qualified replacement."<br /><br />Fox is not going to admit there is a problem-then she would have to change or do something. But how is this board different than past. We used to have K. Bultman holding up meeting wanting to know what color each pod was going to be at GDS.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2143134777410804811.post-77433702100880853032010-05-28T10:08:55.411-05:002010-05-28T10:08:55.411-05:00I hope the board will self-reflect on Ms. Van Vali...I hope the board will self-reflect on Ms. Van Valin's departure. When most administrators leave they have both their fans and those who aren't sad to see them go. But Ms. Van Valin was the rare administrator who everybody admired and respected. When an atmosphere is created where someone such as her finds it necessary to leave for a job that is not a career change or advancement it is not a time to justify or rationalize as Ms. Fox did in the newspaper article. It is a time to take an honest look with an open mind at what is going on and use it as an opportunity to figure out what needs to change. If there is no acknowledgement or recognition that there is a problem and a sincere attempt to change things, you will have one heck of a difficult time finding a qualified replacement. You may also lose others. The best among our staff will be the ones who are able to find another position. It won't be the weak links we lose. In short, a little humility is in order, something that is sorely lacking.<br /><br />Extraordinary leaders recognize when they maybe aren't getting it right and they need help. It is time to seek expert advice from beyond the border of this district. There is help out there for boards who wish to learn how to conduct themselves effectively and in such a manner as to take advantage of the expertise of its professional employees rather than alienate them.Lilynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2143134777410804811.post-76789937890161894242010-05-26T23:32:07.663-05:002010-05-26T23:32:07.663-05:00If your parents had a hatcback Nova, you are decid...If your parents had a hatcback Nova, you are decidedly not anywhere near being middle-aged.Lilynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2143134777410804811.post-48291031020942521222010-05-25T17:50:42.036-05:002010-05-25T17:50:42.036-05:00Food for thought with Mrs. Mary Ellen Van Valin co...Food for thought with Mrs. Mary Ellen Van Valin comments.
